Sometimes you need to bring some green inside. And all the time, Martha Stewart has the tips to make it happen. I followed this guide for making a succulent terrarium (see steps below), hit the Home Depot a few blocks away and found the perfect glass bowl to house for my 3 little succulents! Each layer of the terrarium is designed to give the plants enough water and nutrients, but also provide the drainage the succulents need!
Supplies:
- Rocks
- Cactus and Citrus potting mix
- 3-5 succulents
- glass container with high edges
- Sand (optional)
- Sphagnum Moss (optional)
Steps
- Clean glass container and line the bottom with rocks
- Optional: put a layer of sphagnum moss on top of the rocks
- Top the rocks or moss with soil
- Remove plants from their plastic containers
- Gently squeeze the roots of each plant by to shake off the access dirt
- Plant each succulent in the dirt, giving each enough space and top with a little more dirt
- Optional: add a layer of sand to the top around each plant
- Place terrarium in a well lit window and water approximately once a week!
I love this way this turned out, now I just have to hope my thumb is getting greener and it doesn’t die…
